Step One: In your group, research the positions of both the Federalists and Anti-Federalists. Who were the major players on each side? What were the views of each group? What were their primary concerns. Write a joint Google Docs report with your observations. Use a shared document to share your findings with each other. You may organize it however you want, but I'd suggest setting up categories and headers to organize your information.
Step Two: In your group applies the principles of Federalists and Anti-Federalist to analyze a modern issue. After briefly researching the issue, how do you think each group would respond to the issue. Add your thoughts and discussion to the bottom of your Google doc. Then, when your group agrees on a response, write two editorial pieces (think newspaper or internet opinion piece) on the modern issue, one article from each perspective. Submit your opinion pieces through Google Docs.
ONE REALLY, REALLY IMPORTANT RULE Some of the modern issues are touchy subjects. I want you to think critically. However, please do not attack people, name call, or use inappropriate language in any of your documents. You can be respectful and thoughtful in your diagnosis of tough issues without being vulgar or attacking people.
